the intercontinental hotel, where "no parking" signs are posted. tomorrow night mr. obama will attend a concert fundraiser at the fox theater in oakland. the streets will be offlimits to traffic during the visit, particularly broadway, telegraph, and san pablo avenue. >> g.o.p. contender mitt romney is in san francisco right now for an event at the fairmont hotel. sergio quintana is live with the latest. >> reporter: the former massachusetts governor is on a whirlwind campaign fundraising tour through the bay area. this reception at the fairmont is the second of three events scheduled for this afternoon. >> romney'm's fundraising reception at the fairmont brought out a small group of protesters from a coalition of groups, including veterans for change. they say they would have had more people here but several

decided to take a break from political action. >> dvded to remain home and an over the tragedy that happened in colorado. now, for some of us we were a bit shocked that romney went ahead and had his fundraiser here in san francisco. >> attendees at the fairmont reception shelled out between $2,500 and $10,000. earlier mitt romney supporters in woodside forked over $50,000 per person for what fundraisers call an intimate luncheon and that event attracted protesters. alex says both romney and president barack obama are here for one main reason, campaign cash. >> california has solidly been a state that barack obama is going to win for the past several years and that's not going to change with these visits. they're purely to raise money. >> romney visited the bay area in may and held one big dollar private fundraiser in hillsboro, like that event, the three fundraiserred today are also private. >> now, from the fairmont, the

>> closed captioning brought to >> closed captioning brought to >> alan: firefighters are at the scene of a wildfire that burned 50 acres in vacaville. it happenedder in west ranch road. john alston is there with the latest. >> reporter: alan, the fire for all intents and purposes is out but this is still a work in progress. about 75 acres of grass and

brush went up in smoke and flames. no homes were deadged but there are people here with backhoes and bulldozers and waters trying get to out the hot spots. sky 7hd was over the scene this afternoon as firefighters worked to keep the flames from touching half a dozen homes. this started at 2:15 this afternoon. it quickly went to a maximum eight alarms. that has not happened here in a few years according to the fire chief and brought out 150 firefighters from around vacaville and the bay area as well. the flames chewed up the hill toward one house where a young woman was baby-sitting for a one-year-old child. she saw the flames, grabbed the child, ran out, got out, had to leave two dogs hip, happy to say the dogs are fine, they're in their dog run. three helicopters were brought in, making two dozen water drops. fortunately there is a small pond nearby so the helicopters did not have to go far to get

their water. the cause is under investigation. calfire is looking into it, some residents said they thought a neighbor might have been doing some yardwork in the heed -- heat of the afternoon. that is something officials will look into as the come up with a cause. several homes threatened. none damaged. everybody was saved. the homes were saved. firefighters expect to be out here in vacaville for probably five, six, seven or eight hours through the evening just to make sure. live in vacaville, abc-7 news. >> alan: quick action. and another big grass fire this afternoon. this one was in trace and it's moving into the mop-up stage. firefighters responded to flames on the side of interstate 580. up to 50 acres have been burned and a few structures were threatened brief low. >> in san francisco traffic started moving after at least

>> alan: a bay area assemblywoman convict of shoplifting plans to run for office in alameda county. mary hayashi filed papers to run for the supervisor seat. she is on probation after pleading no contest to shoplifting from the anymore man marcus snore union city. the highway patrol arrested two men who officers believe took part in a chase where someone fired at officers in oakland. the officer escaped unharmed after someone shot out the back

window of his patrol car. it began when the officer tried to stop the driver of a white van for not wearing a seatbelt. a black acura then rear-ended the chp car and shot at the officer. >> we don't have a motive. we believe that the acura passengers and the passengers of the van were acting in tandem together. >> officers captured the two men from the van, they may continue to search for the occupantses of the other car. that car turnedded out to be stolen. police say a drunk driver caused a collision that killed two highway workers in southern california. oauthoritys say two vehicles crashed in a construction zone in torrance just south of los angeles. both drivers and a third highway worker were hurt. and in yolo county, a wife is now 65% contained. the fire is burping southwest of the community half glen damp.

doctor the low clouds and fog pushing well off the coast and you can see the bank towards the west, and with that strong onshore wind, this is just going to move back inland overnight tonight. so, temperatures tomorrow, especially inland, a few degrees cooler. in fact here's a look at your highs for today. not a lot of cooling. antioch, oakley, brentwood. antioch, your high was 99 degrees. we had 100 in cloverdale. clear leak, you were up at 97. 83 in san rafael. i'll tell you that temperatures near the coast and even the peninsula came down as much as 12 degrees in some locations this afternoon so there was cooling but looks like the sea breeze component will cool inland locations down for monday afternoon. right now it's still hot inland, antioch, 96, compared to oakland, 70. 65 in san francisco. 86 in santa rosa. the low clouds and fog will continue to move inland tonight. it will be patchy tonight.

thicker fog will develop by tuesday morning and it will be a cooler day tomorrow for those inland and more cooling as we head to tuesday and wednesday. lows tonight, entire east bay will be mild, mid-to-low 60s expect thread. you'll have clear skies, and keep the fog temperatures right near the peninsula and the coast, mid-to-low 50s. a little bit of area of low pressure that will pass to the north of us tomorrow, that will mean cooler temperatures spreading out towards the east bay location. the fog will thicken up, the westerly winds pick up, and then by monday and tuesday, trough olow pressure with set up off the compost will bring in low clouds and fog so cooler towers for the mid-week time frame. tomorrow you'll note a little more comfortable for you out there. los gatos, 8 4. sunnyvale, 78. 62 for half moon bay. a little sunshine for you there. palo alto, 76.
